3 days of summer

Paul got a whopping 3 days of summer break so it was a mutual decision that we splurge and take a summer vacation. We went to St. George for 3 days. We had planned on camping one day but the weather was bad, very windy and rainy, so we stayed in a hotel for two nights. We didn't do anything way exciting but it was great to relax and enjoy some time together. We did go to the temple, did some shopping and a 2 hour walk/hike. The hike tuckered us both out even though it was easy, I guess it's time to start working out again.





I think Paul's favorite part of the trip was eating at In and Out. Mmmm, it was good.

That's right, I climbed up there almost all by myself. :)




Today Paul started real life again, back to work and school. I know I've said this before but he is tough to be doing all that he is and I sure appreciate him. Working 40 hours and doing 15 credit hours is not easy, especially when working requires staying up all night then going to school before he can finally crawl into bed for a few hours of sleep.

The church has gotten rid of the married student wards now, we are all required to go to the family wards. They want to put more young single adult wards in so we're getting kicked out. It is a bitter sweet thing for me, I really enjoyed the married student wards because we get to do fun activities like cliff jumping and linger longers, you don't get those in a family ward. But it will be good to learn from those in our family ward that have experience and it's great that sacrament meeting isn't so quiet because of all the kids. We felt very welcome on Sunday except that after church we realized we had gone to the wrong ward.

I wouldn't trade him for the World

This last week was finals and boy am I glad they are over. In my three years of college this week was by far the most difficult, most stressful, awful, no good, very worst of all finals weeks. Some crazy person at Weber State decided to make this semester a week shorter and only have 3 days for finals. That means I had to cram a lot of studying into 3 days! It's over now, and Paul and I are going to sit on the couch all day and do nothing, it's going to be so great!
Yesterday I took 2 of my 5 finals, both of them were very difficult. When I got home from taking the first one Paul immediately knew it wasn't good. He tried cheering me up but I was too mad and went straight to studying for my next one. But he didn't give up, and what a sweetie! A while later he came back from the grocery store with a dozen bright pink roses, two CHOCOLATE candy bars and the movie Avatar (which we love!). That cheered me up for sure! He also had the dishes done, and made dinner. I did much better on my second test for the day but after 12 hours of sitting that day my back and hips were sore and I was ready to quit school all together. Luckily I have all summer to recover.


Thanks for letting me vent a bit and brag about my amazing husband. I wouldn't trade him for anything! I got so lucky! Paul gets 10 days off before he starts summer school, and he is tough to be able to do that. He'll have 17 credits throughout the summer, work 40 hours a week and adjust to a new baby! WOW!! Pray for him. We are trying to plan our summer vacation this next week...a cheap one. So far our idea is to go camping up by Pine View, hopefully it's not too cold, I'm a baby when it comes to sleeping in the cold.
Today I have an interview for a promotion position at work, let's hope I get it, the pay raise would be great. But they are nervous about me having a baby so soon, and I don't plan on working next fall during school. We'll see how it goes!

Perfect study position

Amelia has 4 finals in the next 3 days so she has been trying to study.She has found the perfect position for doing so, Laying down on the couch with a bucket of Easter candy!!

32 Weeks

Time is not flying by for me, it seems like this semester has lasted a year and I've forgotten what it feels like not to be pregnant. The baby is definaltely growing! He kicks so hard sometimes it hurts, but I still love the feeling of him moving. At our ultrasound my stomach was really lopsided, the doctor said it was his little bum sticking out! So cute!

Only 4 more days of school. Thank goodness! The semester has been super hard for me, Paul seems to be doing pretty good in his classes. Hopefully we both can get through finals this next week. Wish us luck!

This last weekend we went to Grantsville to watch Megan (our neice) at Prom. For those of you who don't know...prom in Granstville is a big deal. The kids spend time learning a dance to perform for parents all dressed up. Megan did a great job and she looked beautiful! Paul enjoyed seeing people he hadn't seen in a while and I liked looking at all the interesting dresses the girls were wearing.

After Prom we went to dinner and Paul was lovin' the hot chocolate.

I tried making Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls today and I must say I did a pretty good job. They are SO good! They look much better in these pictures than I do.




Next week Paul's mom is having a baby shower for me in Grantsville, I'm thankful that she is willing to do one. Thanks Christine! I'm super excited to go and be done with school, then I can just think BABY and get ready for him to come! WAHOO!!!

30 Weeks

Doctors appointments are now every two weeks. I'm 30 weeks and growing big! The baby is healthy and in a good position. He continues to practice his football kicks inside me but I never get tired of it. I love to push him around with my hand and feel his feet and hands stick out. I've been more uncomfortable as he grows and I've only heard the last months are the worst. So bring it on!


This last weekend we had a great Easter and enjoyed conference. I was amazed at the emphasis on families and parents teaching their children. It made me wonder if I was really ready to take on the responsibility of caring for a child, not just physically but spiritually. I guess it's a little too late to turn back, but I pray the Lord will be with both Paul and I as we do our best to follow the council given this last weekend and teach our children on a daily basis about the gospel and the importance of gaining a testimony for themselves.
On Saturday between conference we went to an aquarium in Salt Lake with the Clark's. We got to touch all sorts of sea animals including Manta Rays, they are so soft! We also saw their new penguin exhibit. The penguins were very active jumping in and out of the water and we were shocked at the speed they could get. They began feeding the electric eel while we were there so we got to see and hear it shock it's prey, what an amazing creature!




On Sunday we enjoyed a day with the Robertson's. unfortunately Paul had worked the night before so he slept most of the day, and we missed his company. The rest of us listened to conference, had a great meal, and dyed Easter eggs. I enjoyed visiting with the family and playing with my little nephew Maxwell, he's growing into a little toddler, temper tantrums and all.
I love family!

Last week Paul surprised me with an Easter basket when I got back from taking a test. He also sent me on a hunt to find 12 eggs. You'd think in our little apartment this would be an easy task but I had a difficult time, despite the fact that Paul had them many of them in plain sight!

New Purchases

Everyday at school Amelia looks on KSL Classifieds for baby stuff instead of doing her homework. She gets on that site before checking her email or anything else on the internet, she is addicted. For the past week she has been saying that all she wants to do is buy baby stuff and get ready for the baby, which doesn't come for 10 more weeks. I finally gave in to her plea and let her buy a few things. She found this stroller and car seat here in Ogden for only $50. The couple had hardly used it, so it is in great condition. They bad side to it though is as we walked to the car to put it away we couldn't get it into the trunk, stupid small cars. So I guess if we have to take it somewhere it will get to ride in the back seat. The moment we got home Amelia started cleaning it up, she was so happy. We have also gotten a new car recently, we actually just made our first payment yesterday. We bought Kevin and Rhonda's cobalt, its an 2005 with 80000 miles so we hope that it will last a long time. We haven't thought of a name for her yet, but we will soon. We went with a car from family so that we didn't have to take out a loan from the bank. Its nice to have a car with a radio in it, Betsy's radio went out 2 years ago and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. The semester is almost over, only 3 more weeks. Amelia's school load has picked up but she is finding a way to get through it will little complaints. I thought my semester was going to be harder then it has been, my lowest grade is Trigonometry and its an 80. I am really close to A's in my other classes so lets pray I do well on my finals. My new job has been going pretty good, its allowed me a lot of time to do homework and prepare for my tests. My body is getting used to working graves, except now on my days off I cant sleep very good. Like last night I got up at 3:45 in the morning because I'm so used to being awake at that time.

Dont mess with security

So as Amelia mentioned in the last post I have a new job. I am working for Allied Barton Security, I am stationed at the local convergy's here in Ogden. I will be working full time, which I haven't done for almost two years. I work Friday,Saturday,Sunday,Monday nights, they had a day shift available but I wouldnt have been able to attend church so I went with nights. I have worked graveyards before so I don't think it will be to bad. It has been pretty easy so far, all I do it sit at the computer and watch the monitors, every now and then I have to make a badge for someone. I am allowed to do my homework during my shift, which will be a good way to pass the time. And that way when I am home I can spend time with my wife(and baby soon). Amelia hasn't been too fond of me working nights, she has to sleep all by herself. At least she'll have the baby to keep her company soon, I figure the baby would keep us up at night anyway so at least I wont have to deal with that.

Saturday before I had to go to work we went out to the movies for a little date. We saw Alvin and the chipmunks the squeakquel, we have been waiting forever for it to finally get to the cheap theater. We have been watching the movie trailer over and over in anticipation for it. It was so funny, we laughed through out the whole movie. If you haven't seen it, you need too.

28 Weeks

Only 2 1/2 more months until I'm due to have a baby! It's crazy to think it's so soon. But Paul and I are so excited! We are beginning to collect a few baby necessities. On Tuesday I went to my parent's house to touch up the crib we will be using (the same one I used when I was a baby). It's old, but works fine. Our doctor's appointments will now be every two weeks instead of every four, and before we know it, we'll have a baby here!





This week has been spring break for us, we had big plans to go camping in Moab, but Paul got a job this week and starts during the weekend, which is great news, but spoiled our camping plans. We still have had an enjoyable week off of school. Today we went on a hike where we only got lost for a short 1/2 hour, climbing up snow and a huge rock slide. We were looking for a waterfall but I guess it was gone or we just couldn't find it. and then to the mall for a quick shop, and then home for dinner, caramel popcorn and a movie.

Long live Betsy!!

I have had my car Betsy, for 8 years. We bought her a month after I turned 16. She isn't the prettiest car on the road but she has been a great car over the years. Well, me and Betsy are no longer together :( She has been sick for the past few months, and we havent had the money to take her to the doctor. We had been waiting for the day when she would no longer be able to keep up with the demands of life, that day was Saturday. We pulled into the parking lot of my company to go get my check and when we tried to back up she just quit on us. Even though I knew this day was coming and I thought I was prepared, I was still upset. We had to leave her there in the parking lot with a note that we would be by to pick her tomorrow. Luckily Kevin was able to come pick us up and take us down to his house where we picked up Shanlee's car. We are testing it out right now to see if we should buy it. It might run better, it has a radio that actually works and you can use all 4 levels of the AC, but it still cant replace old Betsy. Amelia has always had a grudge against her, for reasons I dont know. But she has gotten us to and from everywhere we needed since we have been married. There might be a new car in our parking spot, but the memory of old Betsy will live on forever in our hearts.

24 Weeks

We still have a healthy baby! Wahoo! He is growing just as he should and so is my tummy. I'm gaining weight at a healthy rate and the baby is still kicking like crazy. I've started to get a little uncomfortable, tieing my shoes is difficult and I try to keep from bending down whenever possible. A couple weeks ago Paul let me go shopping for a few new shrits that would actually fit. It was a lot of fun since I havn't gotten new clothes for a long time. The baby is about 1 1/4 pounds and I'm not sure how long, I forgot to ask the doctor to measure.

Though school is keeping both Paul and I on our toes and very busy we still find the time to have fun. This last weekend was great! On Friday we went to a Winter Fest Ogden City had, we listened to a jazz band, watched fireworks, and watched snowboarders do tricks. they had about 4 feet of snow piled up on multiple blocks in the middle of the city, it was amazing.
Saturday Paul surprised me with a dozen roses for Valentines and that night we had a fun filled, FREE date along with our friends Andrew and Megan. We didn't spend a penny, which fits our budget well. We got a catered mexican dinner and dessert at the institute, then fireworks again from Ogden City, a free bumper card ride with a coupon, and New Moon at the school. The boys weren't too interested in the movie but us girls enjoyed it!


On Sunday after church Paul and I spent most of the day cooking a Valentines meal. It was delicious! We had chicken cordon bleu, mandarine salad, rice pilaf, fruit and dip, carrots, an orange smoothie and homemade cheesecake. MMMM!!! It was so fun to spend the day in the kitchen with Paul!
Now it's back to homework and work. No fun. I'm still working at Gymboree and have been offered a promotion, I'm debating if I can handle more work along with my difficult classes, but a raise would be great. Paul has been able to get a few hours as a referee at the school but is still looking for another job. Please keep him in your prayers.

Beach Party

Lately the weather has been really nice and its made me want to go swimming. However there it is still freezing cold at times and there is snow in some places and most of all the out door pools are closed. So I imporvised. Somehow I talked Amelia into putting on her swimming suit when she got home from class. I laid our nice, big beach towels out on the floor. Got the sunscreen out of the closet, turned on some rocking beach boys music and started to watch lilo and stitch. I wanted to play some volleyball but our apartment was to small sadly :( Amelia just laughed at me when she came through the door and there I was ready to go swimming at the make believe beach in the house. Some people might think we're weird after reading this but I dont care, we had a blast together at the beach. Maybe one day we'll have enough money that we could accually afford a trip to the beach but for now make believe will have to do!

21 Weeks

Wow, the last 3 weeks have gone by fast. I hope the rest of the pregnancy will too. I'm now 21 weeks and today Paul and I got to have "the big ultrasound". It was about 15 minutes long with an ultrasound tech. We even got to see some 4D pictures. She confirmed it is a boy, thank goodness. We also got a CD of the full ultrasound, if I could figure out how to put it on here I would. The baby is in good health, he's about 13 oz. on the bigger side, and about 10 inches long (including the legs). I feel him kick so much during the day, he seems to be pretty active. The tech got lots of pictures of his face, I liked to see his little legs and hands. It is now a must that I wear maternity shirts now so my wardrobe is very limited. I've finally gained weight, Paul was getting worried, but I was happy to let the weight come on as late as possible.

An Eternity of Love and Happiness

As a little girl I rarely dreamed about my husband being a romantic one, when I thought about what he would be like I had about 4 things on my list: enjoys sports/outdoors, will get a college degree, makes me laugh, and wants kids as much as I do. Well, I got all that plus a lot more, one including a very romantic man, and I won't complain about that!
Friday was our official 1st Anniversary. We enjoyed discussing our first year together and talk about all the changes that have happened in our lives. First and foremost the fact that just a little over a year ago we were just the best of friends with no romantic feelings for each other and now we're married and starting a family. It's so crazy where life can take you in so little time.
Paul and I decided we would take turns planning the anniversary, this year was Paul's turn and I don't think I will ever be able to beat it. I thought that our trip to the condo last week was our anniversary celebration and we would just go out to a nice dinner, but I was wrong, Paul had much more planned.
Friday morning I have to catch the bus at 6:30am for school. Paul got up at 5:30 to make me breakfast and sent me to school. When I got home Paul told me to get dressed up for a nice dinner. When I was ready he then made me put on a blindfold so I couldn't see where we were going! I got one chance to guess where, if I was right I could take off the blindfold but I was wrong. So for a car ride up to Logan I wore my blindfold. When we got to the restaurant I got to take it off. We ate at Hamiltons, a steak a seafood place and so YUMMY!! I couldn't stop talking about how good my steak and mashed potatoes tasted, Paul got creme brule for dessert and I had the best Mango ice cream ever! After that Paul said he had an "activity" planned so back on the blindfold went. He took weird roads all over Logan so I didn't know where we were. He led me up some stairs in an old house and let me take of the blindfold. At first I had no idea where we were, until I saw signs on the doors with names like The Arctic Room. We were at the Anniversary Inn!! My favorite! That's where we spent our first night on our honeymoon. It was so much fun and I was not expecting such a treat, we sat in the huge jacuzee tub, watched movies, and I even got a nice massage with massage oil and had a way good breakfast the next morning. What made this surprise even better was that I had had a horrible week and was so overwhelmed with school and work, it was so great to just relax and take two days off from reality.

It was fun to get dressed up, I rarely get to wear "cute" clothes because I have to wear sweats to school everyday.

Paul is trying to lick the icicles hanging from the ceiling. There were also mirrors all over and the walls looked like snow and there were panguins and seals in the room. Don't worry, it wasn't cold, we kept it nice and steamy in there. ;)

On Saturday we went up to Brigham City to hang out with my friends. Kelsey and Troy took us for some sledding behind their snowmobile. It was a blast!

Paul's face looks strained, I know. He had a hard time lifting me up. I like to think that's because he hasn't been working out, but it's probably because I have put on a few pounds.

Happy Birthday to Me

Friday was my 24th birthday, I am nearly a quarter century old. Every year seems to go by faster than the year before. I am starting to feel like an old person, my body aches more than it ever has before. I had a great birthday, I got to spend it all with the love of my life. We went up to the wolf creek condo's for the weekend. It was great to not worry about school or work, and just focus on me and my wife. We sat in the hot tub each day, we enjoyed the luxury of watching tv since we cant at our house, and we stayed up playing games and watching movies. I'm grateful for my wife and everything she did to make this weekend great. It was also a weekend to take a little trip for our one year anniversary which is on Friday, which I cant believe is already here, boy how time flies. Heres to another year!Bring it on



Trying to blow out 24 candles in one breath can be pretty hard I realized. We used the leftover frosting from amelia's cakes on mine but we only had enough for half the cake.



I had a great birthday dinner, we had steak, potatoes, green beans, grilled pineapple, fruit salad. It was one of the best meals we have enjoyed since being married.

17 Weeks

We had another doctors appointment and the baby is still healthy. Great news! But the most exciting news was that we found out the gender! At only 17 weeks, (3 weeks earlier than normal) we have a baby BOY! There's always the possiblilty that the doctor was wrong but I saw the ultrasound too and it was hard to mistake. Paul and I are both excited about the news, but I am sad that I will have to take back the cute little gril clothes I bought last week. My mom came to the appointment also, I think she liked seeing the little tyke move around. Being pregnant is really such a miracle and I feel so blessed to be trusted with one of God's children.

After the appointment Paul and I took a road trip to the Manti Temple. It was absolutely gorgeous! The roads on the other hand were horrible. We spun around on the road once but we were lucky enough to not hit any poles or cars. And there were a couple of cars that helped us get out of the bank we got stuck in.

This is what Paul and I did most of Christmas week. His neices and nephews got Rock Band for christmas. And we rocked out!

Birthday/Christmas/Baptism Parties

On sunday my niece anna beth clark turned 8 and was baptized. My brother sam performed the ordinances, I have always looked up to my older brother and am proud of the way he has raised his children. I had the opportunity to give a talk about baptism, it was the first talk I have given since the round of talks after my mission. I have learned to enjoy giving talks, even if I still get a little nervous talking to a group. I read the covenant of baptism from mosiah 18 and then gave her a white baptism bag with little things to remind her to keep the commandments and things, thanks rhonda for the idea!
Monday night we had a birthday/christmas party at my moms house. We celebrated anna'a birthday(8), Becca's birthday(6) and celeste's birthday(4), becca's birthday is on the 26th and celeste's is jan 13. I cant believe how old they are getting, they are so darn cute. After the kids opened their presents we had a nice dinner, ribs and salad yum!!! After dinner we had a special vistor, Santa showed up with presents for everyone. He brought us all some new pj's, we'll take a picture on christmas in them and post it so you can see how cute they are. We played with game true colors with my brother Jason and his wife Kristy, it was so much fun. There were a few questions that made amelia blush, you'll have to ask her about it cause i'm sure I would be in trouble if I posted them. It was nice to spend time with my family, I wish we could visit more often then we do. I am so grateful for my family and all they have done for me in my life, I love you. I am grateful for the knowledge that we can be together forever as a family with our heavenly father. I cant wait to get there and meet the rest of my family that I never knew.

Final Grades are in...

This semester was a pretty hard challenge for me, I was taking human anatomy and human physiology, along with two other classes. Thanks to my good wife I always had time to study for all my classes. I ended up getting a A in physiology and a B in anatomy, I couldnt believe I pulled such good grades in those classes. I ended up with a 3.6 GPA this semester, which is the highest that I have ever recieved at college. I dont know if we already wrote about this but during the semester we decided that I should not go into athletic training anymore, but that I should become a physcial therapist. So I now doing the athletic therapy program here at weber and will finish that spring of 2011, so just a few more semesters. Then after that I will go on to PT school, which is a 3 year doctorate degree. We will most likely have to move out of state for PT school, but we both think that will be a good experience for us. Amelia also had a great semester, she got a 3.9, she was upset with her A- but I think she will accept a 3.9 . I am so proud of her for getting such good grades, she is such a wonderful woman. She will also graduate spring of 2011 with a degree in Human Performance(exercise science), so I guess that means she can work while I go to grad school :) We are already enjoying our christmas break, its nice to stay up late and sleep in every morning. Three weeks off of school will provide enough time for us to re energize for the next semester, and hopefully we will get the same result with our grades!

'Tis the Season

It sure is the season to be jolly! I couldn't ask for a better husband and soon to be baby. Paul has been so good to me, he does the dishes more than I do, and is always making dinner or lunch when I am constantly complaining that there is nothing to eat in our scarce little fridge. He has taken his two hardest finals now and has been so great all semester to study dillegently for both Anatomy and Physiology. I'm so proud and thankful for his hard work. Though I feel like Paul and I are at a difficult time, I couldn't be more thankful and happy for my wonderful life right now. Paul brightens my pessimistic mood everyday! Thank you! I love you Paul!


On Monday night Paul and I decorated our Christmas tree and put a few other decorations up that I borrowed from my mom (we only have a few of our own). We don't have any gifts under there yet except a couple of onesies I bought for our little one. I like to take them out and look at them often because they are so cute and little! We are both so excited to have a little baby of our own. The other day Paul said he was excited for the hospital when I would be sleeping and it would be just him and the baby, when and he could hold it for as long as he wanted. It was sweet to hear him say that. I might just pretend to be asleep so I can watch him cradle our new baby.

13 Weeks

Paul and I went to the doctor again today for a check up. Good news, the baby is still growing just right and it likes to squirm. It was so amazing to see, I will never get sick of watching my baby inside my tummy, being pregnant has been such a great experience so far. The baby has almost tripled in size, it's now about 6.5 cm (3 inches) and has longer arms and legs than before. The vital organs have formed and from here on out it just needs to gain weight and grow. In two weeks the baby will start to hear (probably mostly my heart beat and breathing, but maybe my voice too). Paul and I got to see the face, you can see the eyes, mouth and nose in the picture of the ultrasound, but I know it is difficult to see (taking a picture of a picture is hard). The doctor bet $2 it was a girl, but he wasn't willing to bet more than two bucks so I wouldn't be too confident in him yet. If we are lucky in four weeks at the next visit we'll be able to tell the sex, but we may have to wait longer.

I actually haven't gained any weight since last month (that's good). But from here on out I should gain about 1/2 lb. a week. So next month I should actually look pregnant not fat.
